Organizing evidence you already control
VA’s public materials describe kinds of evidence a disability claim can include. This article is about lining up records and statements you already control against those published themes. It does not decide what your file needs, and it does not file.
Official sources last reviewed 2026-10-03. We organize and educate. We do not file.

Organize copies you already have
Sign in to store copies you choose. You prepare your own claim. We organize and help you understand. We do not file. We are not an accredited representative. We do not download a C-file from VA. Each veteran pays their own monthly subscription — $9.99/mo or $107.99/yr (About 10% off a year paid upfront), a flat monthly or yearly fee for that veteran, never a percentage of VA benefits. Not an organization fee. Never a cut of VA pay.
You can keep reading without an account. These pages do not file a claim, and an account is not required to read them.
Themes VA publishes, not a result for you
VA’s evidence-needed pages describe information that can support a disability claim, including VA or private medical records, hospital reports, and statements from people who know the situation. VA also describes reviewing discharge papers and service treatment records. Those are published categories. They are not a finding that your claim has enough evidence.
Service-connection education in 38 CFR 3.303 is about principles VA published for relating a disability to service. Reading that section is not a decision that your condition is service-connected. This page does not apply the regulation to your life and does not tell you what to claim.
A Fully Developed Claim is a path VA describes when you submit evidence you already have. Choosing that path, or another path, is your decision or your accredited representative’s. We do not prescribe a strategy.
Sort what you hold
Start with papers that exist. Service records you possess. Medical records from care you actually received. Letters VA already sent you. Statements you wrote, or that a person who knows the facts wrote. Put anything you cannot identify in unknown, and leave it there until you can read it.
Have means the copy is in your set. Missing means it is not. Unknown means you cannot honestly say. None of those marks is proof of what VA’s systems contain. None of them is a nexus opinion. Medical conclusions belong to clinicians.
We do not invent a symptom, a diagnosis, or an in-service event. If you cannot stand behind a fact, leave it out. Organization is not a place to upgrade a story.
Statements and the forms VA publishes
VA publishes VA Form 21-4138 for a statement in support of claim and VA Form 21-10210 for a lay or witness statement. Those forms belong to VA. A statement on this product is text you write in your own words. We do not draft a narrative, invent first-person facts, or submit the form.
VA Form 21-4142 and VA Form 21-4142a are the published authorization forms for releasing non-VA medical information. Linking them here is education. This product does not send an authorization to a clinic and does not autofill a form for submission.
You prepare your own claim. You or an accredited representative still file on VA.gov, by mail, by fax, in person, or with a representative you appoint outside this product. We are not that representative.
Pages and dates, only when the text supports them
After you sign in, My Records can read words that are already in a PDF you stored. Timeline dates come from dates written on the page. A month and year with no day stays off a day-level timeline. Record Map sections are labels those pages already support. Unknown stays Unknown.
Ask My Records answers only with the page number and a quote from that page. A quote appears only when those exact words are on the page. If those words are not on the page, there is no answer. Picture-only pages and pages we cannot read are not OCR, and they cannot support a date, a quote, or an explanation.
That citation rule is the product. It is not a writing assistant, and it is not a claims agent. This page does not file.
Empty / early reading
Reading this page does not create a packet. Empty / early means you have not stored files here. An empty vault stays empty. It is not a sample C-file, not a filing, and not claim readiness.
Education and organize only. Not a claims agent. Not individualized claim advice. Not legal advice. Not medical advice.
Not a VA decision. Not your rating. Not a promise of service connection, a percent, or a payment.
You prepare your own claim. We organize and help you understand. We do not file, submit, or prosecute a claim.
We are not an accredited representative, and this page does not appoint one.
A packet on this product is an organization view you still control. This product does not submit it.
We do not invent a diagnosis, a nexus opinion, a C-file, or a claim outcome. Unknown stays unknown.
A quote about a file you stored appears only when those exact words are on the page. Picture-only pages are not read. That is not OCR.
